At the 2001 Meeting of SCCR, the Executive Committee voted to establish student paper awards to honor the memory of Dr. Leigh Minturn, who was killed in the 1999 Egypt Air Flight 990 crash. Two prizes of $200.00 each will be awarded to student authors.

One award will be given for the best Graduate Student Paper and the other for the best Undergraduate Student Paper presented at the annual meetings. It is hoped and expected that the winners will be able to present their papers at the annual meetings. To facilitate this, an additional $200 travel award shall be given to those winners who appear at the meetings. Winning papers also will be considered for publication in the SCCR journal, Cross-Cultural Research, or in the journal World Cultures.

Papers authored by students, without faculty co-authors, are eligible for submission.
